Check every key individually

The keyboard test detects each key by its physical position, so you can reliably find dead, sticky or unresponsive keys — ideal when buying a new keyboard or troubleshooting.

Key, code & counter

For each key you see the character, the technical code (e.g. “KeyA”) and how many keys you have pressed. Modifiers such as Shift, Ctrl and Alt Gr are detected too.

Frequently asked questions

Why does “Y” light up the “Z” key?

The test detects the physical position (event.code). On a German QWERTZ keyboard the “Z” sits where the US layout has “Y”, hence the mapping.

Can I test several keys at once?

Yes. Hold multiple keys down to also check whether your keyboard handles simultaneous presses (rollover).
