Monitor Test

Check your screen for defective pixels. Pick a colour, go fullscreen and look for dead (black) or stuck (coloured) pixels.

Find dead & stuck pixels

The monitor test fills the screen with pure red, green, blue, white and black in turn. A dead pixel stays black on a coloured background; a stuck pixel glows in one colour. Ideal when buying a new monitor, laptop or TV.

How the test works

Click a colour or start fullscreen and click or press a key to cycle through the colours; press Esc to exit. For a clean result, clean the screen first and view it from a normal distance.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between a dead and a stuck pixel?

A dead pixel stays black, a stuck pixel glows permanently in one colour. The fullscreen colour test reveals both.

Can stuck pixels be fixed?

Sometimes rapid colour changes or gentle pressure help. Dead pixels usually cannot be repaired.
